Binding work for the SSJ Body complete

Time consuming binding work for the body was completed. This time, I used Madagascar RW for the binding with Maple border. It shows pretty good sharp color contrast between the Black wood and the RW binding. This cosmetic color accent increases the guitar value. This body needs a final sanding work. Next week, I will have a sanding work and a neck jointing work.

Beveled armrest complete

Beveled armrest and binding install for the top-side was completed. Armrest material is Colobolo, and binding material is Madagascar RW. Both of them have nice color matching, and everything was seamlessly installed. This SSJ body needs back side purfilig and binding install. Next week, this body will be completed. A neck for this body was already completed. So, this guitar will be completed quite quickly.

Back to SSJ built

It has been hooded the SSJ built. Now, I am back to the SSJ built. This is an African Black wood body and Lutz spruce top. I have done the purfling install. Purfling is made by Black-White-Bralizian RW-white laminate. Next step is the binding including the beveled armrest install. Binding material is Madagascar RW. This is a very time consuming process. However, I really like the detailed work.

Brazilian Jazz Nylon Completed

     Brazilian RW Jazz Nylon model built project is completed. I installed a BR bridge using the Vacuum clamp. This model is impossible to install the bridge without sing the vacuum clumping system, because there is no center sound hole. Conventional clumps are not able to use.
I tested this guitar using the GHS La Classic strings set. It is too early to judge the sound quality, because a lattice braced guitar sound changes dramatically in first one week. Usually, a fresh built lattice bracing Nylon strings guitar shows quite normal and nothing outstanding sound. However, after first week, the new guitar shows a real sound. It requires an aging process for lattice braced guitars from my experiences.
      This guitar still needs a little extra adjustments for the action setting and electrical pick-up system installation. So, I am able to check the real sound for this guitar.

Final coat applied

     I completed final coat apply for the Brazilian RW Jazz Nylon. After I applied couple of coats of Water based Acrylic finishes, Brazilian RW showed amazing beauty. This Brazilian RW has fiddle back maple like flames. I have never seen Brazilian RW with flames. This is a very rare material. I really like a Chocolate like dark brawn Brazilian RW. I also really happy with the Katalox head. Katalox also showed well matched Brawn for the Brazilian body color.
     Next week, I will polish this body and install a bridge and an electrical pick-up system. Then, this guitar is ready for delivery to a new owner.

Ready for final coating

Epoxy filler apply and sanding works are done. Bridge making is also completed. Brazilian Jazz Nylon model is ready for final coating apply. Unfortunately, this weekend was cold and rain. Wafer based Acrylic finish needs more than 70 degree-F and Sunny and dry day. So, I did not have the final coat sprang sessions. Next weekend has a very good forecast. I will apply 4-final coats per day, and total 8-coats. Before applying final coat, I also will apply Yellow stain on the sound board.

Epoxy Filler apply and Bridge making

     Bridge making for the Brazilian model was completed. This time, I employed a traditional bridge design. Traditional bridge has a simple slot design for the saddle install. My design has a cavity type saddle installing slot. Piezo pick-up requires a coaxial cable hole. Traditional slot design is not able to hold the pick-up saddle solid enough. Also, the L.R. Baggs LB-12 pick-up needs at least 5mm cavity depth to hold piezo pick-up nicely. Shallow slot may damage the LB-12. Therefore, the cavity type saddle install slot is required.
     I also completed Epoxy pore filling process for the completed guitar. I did two filling and sanding sessions for the neck, head-plate veneer, sides, and back. Brazilian RW and Mahogany require two Epoxy filling sessions for completely fill pores. Next week, I will have final coats spraying sessions.
